The
Venetian priest, composer and violin virtuoso Antonio Vivaldi was born 330
years ago. Tribute will be paid to him at the third Budapest Baroque Festival
with Hungarian premières, orchestral and oratorio evenings, and organ and
harpsichord recitals.
An
exhibition of the recent works by one of the major figures of contemporary Dutch
photography, Carla van de Puttelaar, is opening at the Nessim Gallery near Deák Square (VI,
Paulay Ede u. 10).The central interest of the woman photographer is female
identity. Her method of depiction and use of colour can be traced back to the
traditions of the Dutch portrait painters.
The cream of Hungarian viticulture is presented at the Budapest International
Wine and Sparkling Wine (Pezsgő) Festival held in Buda Castle, in the first half
of September. The fair is accompanied by numerous other 'winey' and musical
events, as well as others which preserve traditions.
2008 is the Year of Renaissance in Hungary. In the
historical background of the Year of Renaissance - 2008 is the 550th
anniversary of Matthias Corvinus (one of the most important Hungarian kings)
coming to the throne of Hungary.
